DON BROCO – HALF MAN HALF GOD Single Review

  • Release Date: January 24, 2019
  • Label: SharpTone Records

Blimey, the boys at ‘DON BROCO HQ’ have been busy. Rehearsing for their upcoming UK headline tour and planning the next step in following up their 2018 album ‘Technology’. Their newest single is a loud, riffy and shouty track. Perfect!

Opening with some monotone lyrics from frontman Rob Damiani and an electric drum beat, you would think this is going to be a light hearted track, and then BANG, the full band enters with a lot of low end and a monster riff.

The chorus also features a lot of low end with the crunchy distortion from the guitar riff which pairs nicely with Rob’s higher vocals.

Damiani had this to say about the new single:

“This is a song about celebrity in the age of the Internet. People don’t just want to admire their idols from afar, they want to know everything about them. Every waking moment, every thought and feeling, every hope and fear. These days we want our celebrities human. We don’t want mystery, we don’t want airbrushing, we want real, we want full access, we want communication, and most importantly we want selfies.”

There is a use of autotune in the bridge which we should all let slide but this track could be a new direction for ‘BROCO’.

Perhaps we are about to get a heavier album in 2019? Only time will tell!
